Ohio considers abortion bill and election reform measures
Ohio lawmakers return from weekend recess with a bid to legalize abortions under limited conditions proposed by Sen. Jim Thorpe. The measure would require two doctors’ certification and only permit in cases of rape, incest, or health risk to mother or fetus. The House advanced absentee ballot tabulation on machines and allowed boards to decide registration list timing by majority vote. Also approved were minor election changes and a bill guaranteeing humane treatment of livestock.
