State High Court To Re Hear Case Involving Local Plants
The Ohio Supreme Court will re hear whether Ohio companies should include U S government bonds in state franchise tax calculations. The ruling could affect Wrenn Paper Gardner Board and Carton Sorg Paper and other firms and may lead to an approximate ten thousand dollar refund for 1945 to 1949 overpayments. The decision hinges on a recent ruling that federal securities cannot be taxed as part of state franchise taxes. The case could reach the U S Supreme Court if arguments proceed.
