Heart Sounds Turned To Light By Science
An electro acoustic ear converts heart sounds into light beams for recording as three frequency lines and a timing trace. Built by Drs. Dunn, Rahm Jr., and Freed at University of Nebraska, it may detect early heart disease and distinguish murmurs from non serious causes. The device, not portable, aims to supplement stethoscopes in hospitals and clinics.

Odd landmark to be razed in Medina Ohio
Plans are underway to tear down Seville's 14 room mansion built 70 years ago for Capt Martin Van Bates and Anna Bates. The giant couple, nearly eight feet tall, were famed by P T Barnum. Home features 10 foot doorways and 12 to 14 foot ceilings. Current occupants say rooms are too large and the house hard to heat, with demolition set for next year for a modern dwelling. Bates wife died 1886 and he followed in 1919 after a custom oak coffin was built in Cleveland. Annealing glass involves cooling it slowly.
