Marina sergeant and wife die in bomb explosion
A Marine reserve sergeant Jerry Ronald Sowers 32 and his wife Ann 36 died when a bomb wrapped around his body exploded in a lawyer's office during a separation discussion. Neighbors described them as quiet but heard an explosion Tuesday night. Police said Sowers had accepted psychiatric care recently and refused to be separated from his wife. The incident occurred in Garner North Carolina with an 8 year old daughter of Ann from a previous marriage. Landlord said Sowers was upset about the separation and acting strangely. Authorities evacuated the building and U S investigators checked for explosive materials. The Marine inspector said Sowers had no explosives training and could not have obtained them through the Marines.
