Protesters Cash In Savings Bonds Over War Discontent
Across Palo Alto and Madison protesters cashed about 31 thousand dollars in U S savings bonds to protest Southeast Asia policy. In Palo Alto about 12 thousand dollars were redeemed by several dozen participants led by a Stanford professor. In Madison about 81 people, led by Mrs. Milton Leidner, redeemed 19 thousand dollars citing sane, nonviolent protest. Amherst students planned similar withdrawals, warning each dollar withdrawn would remove five dollars from war resources.
