Lorain may seek Guard help over city fire strike
Lorain Mayor Zahorec asked Governor Rhodes to deploy Ohio National Guard to handle emergency fire calls as 101 striking Lorain firefighters refuse to work. City Council moved to pursue contempt of court against the strikers and blocks talks until a new contract is reached. In Ashtabula, 40 police and 104 other workers remain on strike amid wage disputes, with city manager McClure negotiating late Wednesday.
