Seitz amendment jeopardizes TIF funded school aid in state plan

The Seitz proposal would add boosted property values in TIF districts back to the state funding formula, likely reducing aid for districts relying on TIFs. Local deals to hold districts harmless could force payments to districts if funding shifts occur, potentially draining up to 40 percent of Liberty Interchange financing and prompting legal challenges. TID Chairman Jim Blount remains hopeful TIF districts can be saved in the Senate or conference committee.
