Boy Scout Heroic Rescue From Canal Saves Girl
A 10 year old boy recovering from a heart ailment leapt into a tide filled canal and saved three year old Joyce Avard who slipped from a bridge railing in Deerfield Beach. Bobby Elliott son of Mr and Mrs Robert E Elliott of Cape Elizabeth Maine suffered no ill effects. Joyce and her mother Mrs Robert Avard tried to reward him but he declined saying he could not take money. Bobby has been visiting his grandparents Mr and Mrs C H Tyler of Deerfield Beach since January.
