Agronomist Advises Use Of Adequate Fertilizer

Ohio farmers plant thousands of acres of corn aided by weather forecasts. Agronomist Harry La Cook of the Farm Bureau Cooperative Association says proper fertilizer and cultural practices can yield about 100 bushels per acre, with nitrogen, phosphoric acid, and potash amounts specified for high yields. He argues fertilizer is essential for lower cost per bushel and higher income, noting costs per extra 50 bushels are less than 30 cents per bushel.
