A fifth floor jazz and drinking club fire in Bolton England killed 19 people ages late teens to early 20s. Eleven men and eight women died as flames trapped guests on the stairwell. nine escaped through windows to the River Croal. Firemen said the blaze likely started in a cabinet shop on a lower floor.
Allen W. Dulles head of the CIA flies to Capitol Hill for an afternoon closed session of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He will discuss the Cuban rebel invasion and CIA operations worldwide and the inquiry follows Sen. Wayne Morse's push to widen the questioning beyond Cuba.
