Bargain Season Lowers Sports Equipment Costs
A local merchant debunks high costs of athletic gear arguing softball and baseball sponsors can outfit teams cheaply. He cites prices for shoes 13.95 to 29, gloves 4.95 to 10, bases 15, uniforms around 10, softballs about 2 each, and bats from 85 cents to 2.95. Sponsors can outfit a 15-player softball team for about 225 and a kid baseball team around 135, with options to spend more for extras.
