Swiss Halt Great Rush On Silver Coin Speculators

The Swiss government banned hoarding exporting and melting silver coins after a rush on one two and five franc pieces and the 50 centime piece. Banks shops and vending operators reported unprecedented demand as speculators profited about 36 percent. Unofficial reports estimate several million francs worth were involved.

Preble Man Sentenced For Theft

A two year old Preble County man received two consecutive indefinite terms in the Ohio Penitentiary after pleading guilty to breaking and entering and auto theft. Jerry Marvin Crum of Lewisburg admitted breaking into Tincher's Mobil on Ohio 744 near Jacksonburg and stealing a cash register, then stealing Harold Lewis’s car and being arrested in Middletown.

Durbin, 88, Dies. Cement Expert Known as Mr Cement

Harvey R. Durbin of New Rochelle New York formerly of Middletown died at 2 a m yesterday. He was born in Butler County and left Middletown in 1902 later moving to New Rochelle in 1925. He held all patents for quick setting cement and worked as a consultant for International Cement Corp since 1930. Surviving are a son Gilbert of New Rochelle a daughter Mrs Dorothy Test of Haddonfield New Jersey and three grandchildren. Arrangements are incomplete.

NFO Quiet On Hog Kills Amid Price Campaign

The National Farmers Organization remained silent on recent hog killing demonstrations as part of a drive to raise hog prices. Reports said members delivered 148 Illinois hogs to a Missouri prison farm and killed about 100 hogs in Britton South Dakota, drawing mixed reactions.
