Steppenwolf Fumbles on Birthday Party LP Review

Music critic Jim Moon rates Steppenwolf’s At Your Birthday Party as loud but uneven. The standout track is Rock Me with strong midsection instrumentals, while Lovely Meter and She’ll Be Better falter. Don’t Cry Round and Down Jupiter Child are solid. Chicken Wolf nears Magic Carpet Ride quality. The cover shows a grotesque battlefield with Mickey Mouse soldiers.
