Poisoned wafers kill two children in Durant Oklahoma
Ten to fifteen children in an apartment complex played near a pickup truck containing vanilla wafers soaked in sodium fluoracetate also known as Compound 1080. Two children aged three and two died, another four-year-old is critically ill and two more hospitalized as investigators seek the truck owner. A Durant exterminator notes the toxin is highly lethal and rarely used. A $10,000 bond is required to buy the poison and its use needs permission.
