Washington reports the United States plans to grant asylum to about 20 Russian seamen who deserted the tanker Tuapse after it was seized off Formosa by Nationalists. Atty General Brownell may lift barriers and allow temporary visas based on security.
A House Armed Services subcommittee advanced changes to the Pentagon reserve plan, insisting it is not universal military training. They set 100000 to 250000 trainees yearly, kept voluntary service, and maintained draft for most youths 18 to 26. The measure imposes 74 years of reserve obligation for special trainees after civilian return.
A trio of blasts rocked Dallas Oak Cliff last night with three sites hit. Leon McCallum 27 and wife Merle 23 were seriously injured by a roof explosion at This-Is-It Club, Marvin Marion Warren 30 hurt, Jerry's Hangmans Club hit with debris, no serious injuries, a third blast at a housing project caused window damage but no injuries.
A University of Cincinnati rifle coach Percy Morris and team member Stanley Myers Jr. were killed when their car overturned on U. S. 112 in Lenawee County while en route to Ann Arbor for a rifle shoot at the University of Michigan. Injuries included Forrest Whitscarver being critically injured and Richard Seaver with a bruised ankle. two other members escaped unharmed. Police said Morris was driving.

The Rev. Carey H. Rousch aged 83, a Hillsboro mail carrier for 30 years and longtime church worker, died at Highlands Hospital. He retired from the postal service in 1933 and from active ministry in 1949. Known as the father of Hillsboro’s Boy Scout movement, he led the first troop organized in 1911. funeral services are set for tomorrow.

Maureen and Parker claim their acquaintance began on leave while both remain unwed. Parker's wife denies the divorce and vows to make him sweat.
Walter Adams Jr. leaped from a Brooklyn apartment window to a snowbank below while his parents watched in alarm. The 4-year-old son brushed off the fall with a grin, telling his frantic parents I played super man, as a clump of bushes helped break his fall.
Kenneth Chapin, 19, was convicted of first degree murder in the Sept. 25 killings of Lynn 14 and 4 year old Stephen Goldberg. The jury recommended no mercy and Judge Fairhurst deferred execution to allow appeals. Chapin showed no emotion and his defense questioned insanity.

Hillsboro Ohio reports double funeral services for Arthur Ames 82 and his daughter Ethel 43 after authorities say he shot her then killed himself. The bodies were discovered Thursday night by Oscar Ames, a son and brother. Deputy Coroner Lawrence Cornelius noted the deaths as murder and death by own action.
