Butler County Jail plan OKed with 2% contingency amid debate

Butler County Jail Committee and County Commissioners approved architect changes to the new jail project to meet a 1.323 million dollar budget. Sheriff Carpenter opposed removing the enclosed sheriff garage and basement area, warning voters would have defeated the levy. The plan reduces base capacity to 105 with eventual 152, includes a 2% contingency, and sets bids to be re advertised. The panel also discussed courthouse space needs and potential office relocations to accommodate court operations.
