Dayton police hold son Joe Wells Thorpe, 56, after the beating death of Mary Elizabeth Thorpe 9yearold Dayton woman, at her apartment. Authorities note the suspect has a long history of mental illness and the incident remains under investigation.
The Associated Press reports St Patrick Day celebrations reach worldwide including Dublin Rome and New York with parades religious services and greetings from leaders.
