Suit to halt Middletown annexation in Butler County
Lemon Township trustees filed a suit in Butler County Common Pleas Court to block about 244 acres of industrial land from joining Middletown. They argue loss of tax revenue would slash police, fire, road maintenance and ambulance services and accuse due process violations at the public hearing and invalid signatures on the annexation petition. The suit names city officials and corporate petitioners with a hearing set for March 27 before Judge Arthur J. Fiehrer.
