Chisanbop math catches on in Mount Vernon class
In Mount Vernon New York sixth grade students learn Chisanbop a finger counting method adapted from Asia. Led by Neil Castaldo the class performs rapid calculations with 88 51 95 and carries over numbers as needed. The district bets on 496 students using the technique as a math supplement amid pilot programs elsewhere.
