GE Reports Two Percent Layoffs After 1948 Peak
General Electric said two percent of its staff were laid off since the end of 1948. About 199,000 were employed at year end in 27 plants across 94 cities. Laid off since then total about 3,980, with most cuts even but Scranton’s marginal appliances plant closed. The company expects no sharp employment decline.

Wilberforce University Loses Court Case in Ohio Supreme Court
