Embers Lead Blind Rowing Club Return to Viking Boathouse
The New York Institute for the Education of the Blind crew in Bronx revived the Viking Boathouse on the Harlem River after refurbishing it. Under Dr. Merle Frampton, the club aims to help blind youth compete with the sighted, stay in top shape, and gain self confidence with a sighted coxswain and coach Seth Hoard guiding workouts. An 18 year old oarsman said racing takes them on trips and brings smiles as they prep the shell.
