IU To Hear 2 Talks On Scholarship
Dr. Harold J. Grimm of Ohio State will visit Miami University March 25 26 for talks on scholarship He speaks on A Community of Scholars at 4 p m March 25 in Hughes Hall and A Dynamic Scholarship at 11 a m March 26 in Benton Hall The events are sponsored by multiple university committees and the history department as part of the sesquicentennial activities.

Pfc Philip L Gordon son of Mrs Gertrude Gordon 1026 Columbia Ave assigned to U S Army General Depot. Gordon a supply clerk entered January 1958 basic at Ft Knox. George W Sprinkles machinist’s mate second class son of Mrs Zelphia M Sprinkles West Middletown Rt 1 returned to Pearl Harbor March 2 aboard USS John S McCain after sixteenth tour with Seventh Fleet in Far East. McCains patrolled Formosa during Quemoy crisis then aided Kanoya fire town on Amami O Shima December 29. Pfc Paul E Smith son of Mr and Mrs Paul E Smith Franklin and Pfc Alva F McQuinn son of Mr and Mrs Percy McQuinn 2216 Whittier St with First Marine Division at Camp Pendleton took part in first major amphibious exercise of 1959 off Southern California involving 24 ships and 12 000 men. Robert G Weidner airman son of Mr and Mrs Robert Weidner 1916 Highland St and Courtney E Bailey boiler man second class son of Mr and Mrs W H Bailey 1501 Lambertson St served aboard USS Franklin D Roosevelt with U S Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean. Roosevelt departed Mayport Fla Feb 13 with 21 other Second Fleet ships for Atlantic exercises en route to the Mediterranean. Employment in industry in Germany up over one third since 1950 with Italy and France agriculture remaining major employment fields.
