Airmen Freed After Turkish Kidnaping Ordeal

Turkish police closed in on the Turkish People’s Liberation Army members who held four U.S. airmen for five days in Ankara. No ransom was paid as authorities and the U.S. government refused to bargain. The captors fled the apartment after search efforts intensified, while the airmen were released and reported they were treated well. Joint U.S. and Turkish officials praised the safe outcome and ruled out ransom payments to deter future abductions.
