Bill Tanner alerted police after spotting a man place a body in a car trunk and drive off. Officers stopped the vehicle and recovered a living body from the trunk as a garage mechanic overheard a squeak and others followed.

In Santa Monica California a highway patrolman Stan F McCreadie had bees swarm his motorcycle seat while in a telephone booth. A man offered to remove them for a jar of honey and a box. The stranger coaxed the queen into the box and the bees followed, leaving the officer relieved and hive free.
Houston AP reports astronaut Malcom S Carpenter states that if one orbital flight proves problems manageable then progress toward moon objectives can accelerate. The conference covered Gemini and Apollo plans after Mercury, with NASA officials noting remaining issues and future orbital flights.
The US Court of Appeals upheld the FCC authority to permit trial operation of pay television systems. Judge Henry W Edgerton said the commission must be allowed to experiment to shape future programming under a subscription system. The opinion was joined by Judges Walter M. Bastian and Warren E.
