Insurance Cancelled Over Dirty House Claim in Maryland
Noel C. Thornton, 39, a service station worker and Northern Ireland immigrant, says National Emblem Insurance canceled his bachelor policy after an inspector deemed his house filthy. Thornton disputes the claim noting his decorating work and dogs in a bare living room. The firm cited routine investigations to select and retain average policyholders and Thornton has filed a complaint with the Maryland Insurance Commission.
