City checks contract on Rust Craft sale
Middletown officials say the Rust Craft Cable TV sale appears legal and does not violate the franchise. The deal transfers 10 million in Tele-Communications Inc. stock to Rust Craft Greeting Card Co. of Steubenville, effectively a merger rather than a sale. Rust Craft holds multiple local franchises and plans to program Republic Studios films here while awaiting pole-use agreements with Cincinnati Gas & Electric.

Weekend burglaries at Wilson and Lincoln schools end small
Intruders careful yet weak profits. Wilson School principal Roland C. Gadd reports no valuables found, only about a dollar in change from a soft drink lounge after disarming a burglar alarm. At Lincoln School principal Thomas Manning says about 38 dollars were taken from a strong box and vending machine after breaking a girls restroom window and office door. Police say alarms deterred thieves in at least one prior incident. Separate weekend thefts include a home on Grand Avenue with undetermined loss and another on First Avenue with radios, a shotgun, Avon bottles, and 50 dollars in jewelry.
