Labor unions tout St Lawrence Seaway gains for New England
The CIO argues the proposed power phase of the St Lawrence project offers enormous potential, possibly outshining the TVA. It says cheap power could curb industrial drain from New England and that the seaway will bring significant freight savings for iron ore and farm products. The CIO contends railroads and Atlantic Gulf ports will lose little, as most new traffic is not economical by rail.
