Richfield Sinclair Merger Gets The Nod
The Justice Department grants a reluctant conditional approval to the Atlantic Richfield Sinclair merger while opposing full unity of assets. The deal requires sale of Sinclair outlets in the Northeast and Southeast to BP and preserves Sinclair branding in many regions. The arrangement allows potential restoration if appeals fail and keeps Sinclair’s position in marketing and trademarks pending court resolution.
