Consul John Egan Killed in Argentina by Montoneros
The Montoneros claimed the murder of 62 year old John Patrick Egan the U S consul in Cordoba saying he represented Yankee interests. Egan was held 51 hours before his body was found on a dirt road two miles from Cordoba after a failed kidnapping bid. Egan a Kaiser Industries executive and former Perma Montana native was named consular agent in September 1973.
