Ex-Iraqi minister forms group for insurgents
A Sunni Arab politician and former cabinet member Agham al-Samarie announced a new political front named the National Council for Unity and Construction of Iraq. He seeks a timetable for U.S. troop withdrawal and says the group represents resistance fighters who have not attacked civilians. The move follows U.S. officials confirming talks with insurgents and highlights Sunnis’ push into politics amid the violent insurgency.
