Ethics bill haunted by rejected disclosure rider in Ohio House

In Columbus the Ohio House approved 77-6 a conflict of interest bill but rejected a financial disclosure amendment from Rep. Richard M. Christiansen. The measure would set six member ethics committees in each house to hear charges against lawmakers and state officials, with possible referrals to the attorney general for prosecution. Several opponents labeled the disclosure requirement hypocritical. The dialogue continues as the bill heads to the Senate, with Christiansen planning to reintroduce the proposal.
