Lightning may have caused New York jet crash

Officials probe a possible lightning strike on an Eastern Airlines Boeing 727 as it attempted to land in a storm near Kennedy Airport. 110 aboard died, 14 survivors hospitalized, with 108 bodies counted at the crash site and conflicting passenger totals. Bishop, Nets player among passengers of Kennedy jetliner crash

An Episcopal bishop Rt. Rev. Iveson B. Noland a Nets reserve forward Wendell Ladner and prominent New Orleans figure Edgar G. Bright were aboard the Eastern Airlines Boeing 727 that crashed near Kennedy Airport. At least 110 died and 14 were hospitalized with 3 unidentified survivors.

Norwegian Sailors Survive 727 Crash At Belt Parkway

Beef prices reach new high as gasoline climbs under tariffs

The Agriculture Department reports beef at 1.54 dollars per pound on June 7 the highest since 1974 and economists expect prices to peak soon. The Federal Energy Administration notes gasoline averages rose 1.8 cents per gallon due to the February tariff and could rise again with the June 1 tariff change.
