Ohio to regionalize tuberculosis hospitals to cut costs
A new Ohio law aims to regionalize TB care by combining 18 operating facilities into about 12 subsidy eligible beds. State Health Director Emmett Arnold will decide which hospitals stay open, likely leaving smaller, county and private hospitals to convert or close. The plan raises beds available while increasing state subsidy from 2.50 to 5 per patient daily, with implications for Columbus and Nelsonville state TB hospitals and non public sites.
