State to Levy Real Estate Tax for Vet Bonds Questioned

Butler County Auditor R H Smith reports Ohio plans a 4 levy on all real estate to fund World War II veteran bonds, yielding about $40,000 in Butler County. The legality of taxing Miami University college lands in Oxford Township is disputed due to a federal grant exempting them from state taxation. The issue, potentially up to the U S Supreme Court, centers on principle rather than money.
