He will likely rehire the Akron workers to restore jobs with seniority and cover moving expenses. The NLRB found he shifted the plant to avoid collective bargaining with CIO United Rubber Workers.
Ohio Grange master Joseph W. Fichter outlined the state’s hospital plan at Miami University. The plan envisions hospital facilities in every county with federal support covering one third of costs for five years, while two thirds must be raised locally or privately. The plan lists three service areas centered in Cincinnati Cleveland and Columbus with teaching hospitals and varying bed needs.
Louis Brush chairman of Brush Moore Newspapers died in Philadelphia at 9 am EST after a cerebral attack while attending the Republican national convention. He led seven Ohio papers and one in Maryland and was president of Brush Moore Newspapers Incorporated. He also headed the Ohio Broadcasting Company and co owned the Ironton Tribune. His family included wife and grandson Thomas Brush. son T. S. Brush predeceased him.
