Nixon seeks AMA help for health plan at Atlantic City talk
President Nixon urged the American Medical Association to back his health insurance idea and warned a Kennedy led plan could cost $77 billion annually in 36 months. He argued federal funding for low income families and cost sharing would raise household bills and warned of federal control of medicine. He pressed doctors to lead an anti drug education drive and curb prescriptions for tranquilizers and stimulants.
