Life cycle of a butterfly stages and metamorphosis
A butterfly begins as an egg attached to a plant by a sticky fluid. The larva or caterpillar grows by eating, molts 3 or 4 times, then forms a chrysalis or pupa hanging from a twig. Inside the chrysalis the caterpillar transforms into an adult butterfly.
