Tan Son Nhut, once busy hub, now aircraft graveyard
At Tan Son Nhut airport near Saigon, the battlefield left the air base littered with wrecked aircraft including 23 C130s and 11 H47 helicopters while six F5 jets and a dozen Huey helicopters remain. The last battle occurred April 30 when PRG forces entered Saigon and heavy rocket fire damaged many hangars and the former U.S. Military Command headquarters was obliterated.
