Allan Kornfeld, a Tulsa student at Yale on a four year scholarship, lived secretly in a ventilation shaft and later a brick air passageway for seven months while tuition covered meals. He kept a mattress, bureau, clock and radio in the cubbyhole until he revealed the stunt.

Defector Appeals to President During Johnson Visit

A Russian engineer Anatol Michelson, who defected to West Germany in 1956, appealed to President Johnson for help to rescue his wife and daughter from the Soviet Union.
