Clear varnish on floors should not be washed with alkali soaps washing powder or hot water. A daily wipe with floor oil maintains the finish. If washing is needed use linseed oil soap and sparing water. Waxed floors need frequent polishing with a weighted brush and wax in high traffic areas.
