Carter says he has enough delegates to nomination
President Carter asserts he holds more than the 1505 delegates needed to secure the Democratic nomination and returns to Plains after stops in Dallas and New York. Morris Udall will not pursue more delegates and will release any who wish to vote for Carter. Frank Church supports Carter. Fred Harris urges delegates to back him. Brown remains in California with a warmed up campaign. Ford aides restructure to prevent delegate defections as Reagan plans Washington state visits.
