Phillip Morrow is named general chairman of the Fourth of July celebration by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. The Bar nite Stadium event starts at 6 30 p m Monday July 4 with Lemon Monroe High School band at 8 p m and fireworks at 9 p m. Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Co pleaded guilty to federal charges of price fixing and bid rigging in heavy electrical equipment sales totaling over 500 million dollars. Thirteen firms faced indictments. Allis Chalmers and J. W. McMullen pleaded guilty, while others including Westinghouse Electric and General Electric pleaded innocent. The indictments stem from four anti trust presentments in February and May by a federal grand jury. The Angel falls in Venezuela are noted as the world's highest waterfalls.
