Labor shortage blamed for high Lebanon bids on city work

Lebanon officials heard architect Delbert Langhorst describe a severe labor shortage and scarce contractors willing to bid city projects. He cited workers leaving for Armco Steel for higher pay and fears of union trouble as reasons bids on the electric division garage addition ran about 10 000 over the 18 349 estimate. Council postponed action hoping bids fall in fall or winter. Parallel Broadway parking was approved, taking effect Sunday, and an air cleaner bumper ordinance was adopted. The fire committee will study a Lebanon life squad feasibility.
