Nursing doctorate degree to be given at Cleveland

The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Western Reserve University will begin the first US Doctor of Nursing degree program in 1979. The school will phase out the bachelor’s degree while offering master’s and PhD programs. The move aims to align nursing with other health professions and emphasize disease prevention and health maintenance.

Graduation ends in shooting at Weymouth High

Karim Thompson, 17, shot himself with a .22 caliber pistol during graduation exercises at South Weymouth High School. He was in fair condition after surgery to remove the bullet and told investigators there were many issues in America, denying school influence.
