Lamont Happy to Leave U S in Europe Visit
Corliss Lamont says he is glad to depart the United States for a Europe trip amid what he calls hysteria and civil-liberties violations. A Columbia University alumnus and former National Council of American-Soviet Friendship chair, he likens U S actions to Communist prophecy and states he will not abandon the Soviet Union or its allies. Lamont sails with his wife and four children aboard the Cunard liner Caronia to escape perceived political pressure and surveillance.
