Dutch commandos free most hostages in Moluccan siege
At dawn Dutch commandos stormed a train and a school near Assen freeing 53 of 55 hostages in a 20 day seizure by South Moluccan gunmen. Two hostages and six militants were killed. twelve wounded, and the government defended the action as a necessity to end the crisis.
