Heat and Tar Create Major Friday Night Auto Toll
Slick roads from rain on hot tar caused numerous accidents across the area. A Greyhound bus carrying nine was damaged at Route 42 with no serious injuries, while a Detroit driver and Akron outfit were involved in a sideswipe. A car overturn near Route 25 left Hazel Igo with a sprained shoulder, and another collision on Tytus Ave led to a Hart fine for failure to yield. Middletown and Oxford incidents added to the toll, with an arson- or accident investigation ongoing on a burned vehicle at Doty Road. Sing Sing prison construction history notes appear as a closing fact.
