Wildwood Rail Crossing Study Seeks Safer Route
City commissioners reviewed options for the dangerous Wildwood crossing near the subdivision. Engineer Pochel estimated 4 500 cubic feet of fill needed to raise the east approach at about 5 000 dollars, while an underpass at roughly 350 000 dollars was dismissed as benefiting few. Safety Council head Wilson said New York Central tentatively would install two signals but likely not at Wildwood, deeming it a private crossing. Council president Reinartz vowed to verify ownership and push for improvement as over 100 families rely on the steep, narrow grade crossing.
