Ohio House approves a constitutional amendment to set annual sessions for up to 120 days the first year and 60 days the next with a possible 30 day extension two thirds vote. Senate action uncertain.
The forecast calls for scattered showers today and tomorrow with a cool dry air influx reducing humidity. Partly cloudy skies with highs near 70 today, around 68 tomorrow, and low around 54 tonight. Yesterday reached 75 with a 0.02 inch rainfall. this morning’s low was 57.
Union and government negotiators held two hours of talks in London to end Britain's 12 day rail strike and adjourned to Friday. Both sides said no breakdown occurred with hopes high for a quick settlement. The strike has slowed the economy and sent workers to notice.
Queen Elizabeth II opened Parliament as Britain faces its worst industrial crisis since 1926. She pledged Commonwealth peace efforts with the United States and the Soviet Union, urged negotiations on the Formosa Strait, and noted government plans under Prime Minister Eden. The ceremony was shortened and moved up due to the 12 day railway strike.

Albert L. Paglino found guilty of first degree murder in a bizarre scheme to fake his own death with a tourist court fire in St Louis County. Salisbury police report the night blackout at City Park Zoo’s monkey house was caused by occupants unscrewing bulbs from sockets and eating the glass. Investigators traced the prank to the animals in residence.
RAMSGATE England Swedish oil tanker Johannishus burst into flames after a collision with the Buccaneer about 25 miles off Goodwin Sands. Of 43 aboard 21 rescued 20 feared lost including captain and several officers. One dead on arrival.. survivors swam through flames and smoke as lifeboat kept scene until no more could be saved.
USW led by David J. McDonald pressed for higher wages as negotiations resume with Bethlehem Steel Republic Steel and Youngstown Sheet & Tube and Jones and Laughlin. Inland Steel and Allegheny Ludlum join as pension concessions emerge for survivors.
A French source says Soviet Foreign Minister Molotov told the French Russia has no basic objection to July 18 as the date and Geneva as the site for a top level Big Four meeting involving the major powers.
Harry Lev testified before the Senate investigations panel that he could guarantee contract approvals with friendly Air Force buyers and admitted profits over a million from government contracts. The hearing opened with laughter as Lev invited Sen. Bender to a turtle steak meal in Puerto Rico amid graft questions and discipline actions against procurement officials. The Air Force filed court martial charges against Capt. Raymond Wool for travel and gift abuses and the Army suspended Ferdinand Tartaglia after Lev named him as a business partner in a feather venture.
