Urbana Fluoride Emission Petition Seeks Ballot Vote
Urbana Ohio residents submit petitions to the city auditor to set fluoride emission standards for Chi-Wit Corp plant. If 332 of 832 signatures are certified valid, the measure advances to the November ballot. Petitioners cite fluoride poisoning claims, while EPA and OSHA reviews found no excess fluoride. The proposal would cap emissions at five pounds daily, with plant officials suggesting immediate compliance is challenging.
